Gabrielle in many was the ideal compliment for the paintings of Renoir who used his subject as an ideal diversion from the artworks of Courbet, Manet and Monet with his own interpretation of Impressionism. Renoir was personally likable and socially adaptable of all the Impressionists accepted by the upper classes and bourgeoise of his time. The countour of his lines and grandeaur and simplicity in this painting of Gabrielle I have to say are one of my most favourite and most beautiful of Renoir. Off soon to Paris to find some more delights of Renoir, one of my favourite French artists. Unfortunatly I personally only own a few of the prints xxx Merci boucoup Lori Susan King xxx
