Female ribbed pine borer beetle (Rhagium inquisitor). This insect is a type of longhorn beetle, which lays its eggs in rotting bark. The beetle will undergo a complete metamorphosis, from embryo to larva, pupa and imago, without leaving the tree throughout the process.
