What a wonderful capture. Breaks my mother's heart. What weight is he carrying down the cobblestone street? Vacationing with parents? Oh, that could explain it. My two youngest wanted nothing more than hotels, room service, video games and swimming pools. Walk around and look at old stuff - oh, such torture : )

Michel Verhoef replied:

Awww...don't worry it was just a brief moment in time....he must have forgotten by now, safely returned to his country...probably China...:))

Oh my! ... maybe it's a holiday & all his friends are away? No one to play with? Hardly anyone on the street! ... or, it's early morning & he has to go to school.... um, no, there would be more people on the street, then. This little guy is wandering through Sleepy Hollow, Michel! I'm back to thinking his playmates are away (maybe he's staying at Grandma's, he's bored, so he went out for a walk, for something to do) ... maybe ; or ... ;))

Michel Verhoef replied:

Ha...your imagination runs wild Connie...which is a compliment for me...:)) I actually cannot remember what happened there..but..I think his parents were not far away...and they too were defenitely tourists, during that sunny afternoon in the Baltic States :-)))

Words are not needed, when presented with this work - it projects a quiet determination only known to a boy, who is already evaluating his options... Beautifully lyrical work.

Michel Verhoef replied:

Thanks Yvonne for your very wise words...I'll cherish them !! :)

Wonderful, emotional, touching picture!! L/v

Michel Verhoef replied:

Dank je wel Annie !! 😀

What an exceptional piece of art, Michel. Everything from the child's downward tilted head, to the empty streets with their many intersecting lines. Great work!!! M.G.

Nice capture, Michel! Lf

Michel Verhoef replied:

Thanks a lot Zina ! 🙏🏼

~ Michel,... I wish to think he's only sad because he didn't get his ice cream.Whatever else added to his sadness would truly break my heart and hopefully for this sweet little kid, would only help him grow stronger. Sending HUGe Love on his way ~

Michel Verhoef replied:

I think he should be fine and cozy now, since a child forgets quickly and their grief is short and absolute...later when they are older they know that everything is to be seen in a more relative way 🙏🏼 Thanks Eva for your kindness 🌷

Ooh... I hope this little boy is not at all as sad as he appears to be in your picture! I'm sure he's in good hands...he is too clean and well dressed not to... kids are often getting upset and they are showing it...they don't know how to fake a smile as we, adults do. Good luck with the world, little buddy! :))) I admire so much your work and your sensitivity to human emotion, Michel!

Michel Verhoef replied:

Thanks Mioara for these kind words and yes your analysis is perfect...sadness is relative but can be huge for a kids life..thanks for your expert view my friend ! 🙏🏼

wow he looks so lonely

Michel Verhoef replied:

Yes...I felt kind of sorry for him too...thank you for visiting today Donna...sleep well !

So touching, this dreamy,lonely child......Wonderful image !!.......fv..........VIVA

Michel Verhoef replied:

Thank you dear Viva 🙏🏼

Dont know how, but you were truly lucky to get this lonely boy on usually crowdy Chinese streets< Michel! Definetky a keeper! Mood, atmosphere and story - all in a great souldful mix!

Michel Verhoef replied:

Ha...this wasn't in for your kind words !!
