Our private bus headed up the street to park, wait, and have its own siesta. Either less than a dozen people lived in this village, everyone was at work, or there was a town-wide nap in progress. There was no one but us on foot, and no cars roared up the hill to a secret retreat. We stopped in Roccasecca for lunch on our way to the Aquino Castle on top of the local mountain. Lunch was acquired in a little grocery store & deli down the street. Consuming lunch ensued in the town’s new gazebo overlooking the sun green valley which was followed by a large helping of Latin in the shade. Despite the quiet, the place looked lived in and in the care of people who wanted the village presentable. Expresso required to fuel the coming climb was acquired, which also allowed for even more necessary restroom break!
