This gorgeous photo was a present for my brother who has spent much time on Ambergris Caye in Belize. He loved it! He said it brought back many happy memories and loved the color and style. It is now proudly hanging on the wall of his office and he appreciates that it brings a fun tropical vibe to it.

I returned this particular cover, as I found a Saul Steinberg cover that better served the purpose of creating a Christmas, New Year, and birthday gift for a friend who lived in NY and relocated to San Francisco. The New Yorker has provided a wonderful array of covers over the 60+ years the magazine has been in my home. Edna Eicke's cover was produced prior to my birth in 1947, and it is part of The New Yorkers' great cover legacy.
Artist's Description
A large blue and red robot stands prominently in the foreground next to a classic car, which has been tipped onto its side. In the background, a grand mosque with multiple domes and tall minarets establishes a tranquil setting, contrasting with the presence of small figures that resemble stormtroopers from a popular sci-fi franchise, seemingly investigating the area. Birds fly in the clear sky, adding a sense of life to this unique mix of elements.
About Scott Listfield
I paint astronauts and, sometimes, dinosaurs. Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey was released in 1968, which was about 8 years before I was born, so I have no firsthand knowledge of how it was received. I do not know if people genuinely believed we'd be living in space in 2001. If we'd have robot butlers and flying cars, geodesic lunar homes with sustainable gardens, and genetically reconstituted dinosaurs helping or eating the human population. But from Lost in Space to the Jetsons to Jurassic Park, it seems that popular culture craved and fomented this space-age perception of the future. Generations raised on these programs, movies, comic books, and novels are now grown and living in a future filled with mini vans, Starbucks,...
