Description
Roly Poly No More by Debra Martz Roly Polies, when disturbed, roll into a ball...I definitely would say this one was more than just disturbed by this Eastern Phoebe. They are known by other names such as pillbugs, woodlice, tiggy-hogs, parson-pigs and their scientific name, Armadillidium vulgare. Contrary to popular belief, roly-polies are not even technically bugs; they are crustaceans. Captured on a morning hike in the riparian area of South Llano River State Park in Texas.
Scientific name: Sayornis phoebe
