Of the six species of spoonbills, it is the only one found in the New World and the only one whose head becomes completely bald as it ages.
Like many of the old generation of photographers, I began with a Kodak box brownie when I was a kid. When I saw what resulted, I was hooked. Hi Norman: This is one bird we have not yet had the pleasure of photographing. Hopefully, we will accomplish that this Spring. Now to your beauty. And what a beauty it is. Not only did you capture the details of its eye, feathers & colors but you also catch it about to take a step, which adds to the overall character of the image. Excellent work of a great photographer. WE gladly "L/F" this image. Bill & Deb Hayes
