About Barbara Nye
Brilliant and Bold .....I have been painting, cutting, sewing, assembling, and creating from early childhood. My art practice says a lot about who I am and how I see the world. The best thing anyone ever said about one of my paintings was this: "When I look at your painting it just makes me feel happy". That's enough for me. For several years I worked with textiles and a Bernina sewing machine, creating applique and machine embroidered pictures. I much prefer painting now but still use a sewing machine to work on paper sometimes. My work might be described as impressionistic more than it is realistic but more than anything I am a devotee of colour. My preferred method is to apply painted papers to board and canvas, using a...
