when I was seventeen
when i didn't know anything about love
i pictured it as a waterfall
powerful
unstoppable
a glorious ride to what we all believed in then
happy ever after
and when you came
shining in the moon's false lying light
you were that waterfall
but what did i know about love
or anything else
when i was seventeen
i took that plunge into your churning waters
and rode the rapids naked
unprotected
stupidly besotted
gulping mouthfuls of your lies
believing i was being saved
baptized
anointed
never noticing the bruises or the cold
until i woke up far too late
stranded on the rocks
when I was seventeen

The vividly tangible felt sense exuding from this work seems to move body and soul through time and space, RC!

A gorgeous painting and beautiful story. I still think they should be published in a book. :o)

What a soulful, deep expression alone or coupled with the powerful poem. Evocative, moody and beautiful work! fav

This is gorgeous Gina. Such wonderful rich tones and beautiful light, and I love the mottled sky and moonglow. And your poem is so powerful and beautifully written. I love them both! l/f!
