Description
The genus Tamarix (tamarisk, salt cedar) is composed of about 50–60 species of flowering plants in the family Tamaricaceae, native to drier areas of Eurasia and Africa. Salt cedar as its name implies is very tolerate of salt so grows well in saline areas such as beaches, brine areas, etc. In North America it is considered an invasive plant. I have found barn owls roosting in their thick cover during the day. When large they are quite striking to look at at. This large salt cedar in my image was taken in south Texas. I added the liberty of using some digital magic to create a contemporary piece for hanging on the wall.
