The beach towel is really just for laying on inasmuch as it is too big and heavy to put around your body, which is just fine. The artwork in it is beautiful. I can't wait to use it.

Wow - I didn't realise it was going to be that big! It's a gift for a young member of the family - I think he'll be thrilled as he's a tractor fanatic at 6 years old. A practical gift too. The towel has a smoother upper side so it'll be more comfortable to sit on at the beach. It seems to have a thick absorbent power so no usual skinny beach towel.

Pascual Bailon (1540-1592) was born, in May of 1540 in Torre Hermosa, Aragon, Spain. In his youth he was a sheep herder and was often seen praying in the pastures. His faith led him to the Franciscan monastery in Loreto. Because he was uneducated, the friars would only accept him to do menial tasks such as cooking. His devotion to his faith and kindness of heart to the poor made him beloved by all. San Pascual is the patron saint of cooks and the kitchen. He is especially loved in New Mexico. I have depicted him here preparing a traditional New Mexican meal for his Franciscans. He is making homemade tortillas and green chile. His kitchen cat is happily feeding her litter of kittens.

I was born and raised in the beautiful state of New Mexico and my family has been in northern New Mexico for over 10 generations. My work comes from my memories of growing up in a large extended family and my favorite subjects to paint are the people and traditions of northern New Mexico. I have always loved art and have wanted to become an artist for as long as I can remember. My primary medium is acrylic on canvas. I have also enjoyed using acrylic on wood as well.
