The picture was all I expected

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS in red, (expensive taste, huh!) is my son's favorite car. This was a gift for his tenth birthday. He placed it on his bookshelf next to his computer, where it can be seen from his bed and desk. Once received, I was somewhat skeptical of my chosen size. But, with a frame I painted red to match the car, it turned out great. The quality of the print is awesome! Thank you!

Artist's Description

Environmental sand artist Brian Pike is shown sand-painting in King Charles I's bedchamber in Carisbrooke Castle, I. of Wight in a filming for television in October 2011. I use modern water-based adhesive re-inforced with a nylon adhesive used by museum conservationists to restore delicate ancient egyptian papyri which over the past 40 years have been totally satisfactory to my needs while the finishing touch to intensify the colours in the sands is a coating of clear spray varnish which permanently seals the picture in place. Furthermore cleaning is so easy - just a gentle wash-over with a soft brush and warm soapy water will suffice! Possibly with the exceptions of stained glass and fabric wall hangings, modern sand-paintings have one other unique advantage over contemporary pictures - they do not require glazing or other protection - hence there is no surface reflection and the image can be clearly viewed from anywhere in a room. To create most of my permanent sand paintings I use...

About Environmental Sandpainter and Sand Artist Brian Pike

'FEATHERS ARE MY BRUSHES SAND IS MY PAINT!' In October 2011 I was filmed for BBC television in after collecting Alum Bay coloured sands from the ‘Needles Park’ complex, and then with the curator's permission moving on to work on a sand-painting in King Charles 1’s bedchamber at Carisbrooke Castle, on the Isle of Wight where the King was held prisoner awaiting his execution in Whitehall. I was copying a sand picture by Victorian sand artist Edwin Dore of ‘The Needles viewed from Alum Bay’ part of the Museums’ collection of Georgian and Victorian sand-paintings. It is since retiring from financial and management accounting that I am now able to devote more time to marketing the results of my endeavours as well as exploring the many...
