Description
The 17th Century Basilica di Santa Maria Della Salute is perched majestically on a little triangle of Venetian land known as Punta Della Dogana, where the Grand Canal meets the Giudecca Canal. This beautifully baroque church with it's magnificent dome is in the perfect position to be seen on entering or leaving Venice by water and is probably one of the most easily recognizable landmarks in the city. Designed by Baldassare Longhena and unusually octagonal in shape, the church was dedicated to the Madonna in gratitude for the end of a dreadful epidemic of plague. I added a little texture to Santa Maria Della Salute - Venice complete the vintage feel.
