Description
Schwerin was first mentioned in 1018 as Wendenburg and was granted city rights in 1160 by Henry the Lion, thus it is the oldest city of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It is globally known for its romantic Schwerin Palace, situated on an island in Lake Schwerin. The palace was one of the main residences of the dukes and grand dukes of Mecklenburg until 1918 and is the official seat of the state parliament since 1990. The city also has a largely intact old town, thanks to only minor damage in World War II.
The photo is a very wide angle image, a black and white exposure image photograph. Photo made with pinhole analogue camera, with middle format film negative.
Pinhole cameras have no lenses. They are only a box with a tiny hole to let the light (image) in and a film negative inside. I like to say it is truly a pure photography. Photography at its essence.
The long exposure photograph gives me time to actually look and appreciate the scenario and the moment. Often I observe the scene for many minutes before taking my camera from the bag. Then I keep appreciating the view while the long exposure photograph is in process.
The film negative was developed by me. It was handcrafted before being digitized, for this reason you may find spots of dust and scratch which I consider part of the rustic work charm.
This photo I took in Germany in 2017. It's part of my visual exploration during my walking, which I concentrate on what composition, framing and shapes makes me feel.
Black and white pinhole images have a feeling of mysteriousness in it, specially with wide angle images which create an enigmatic effect. It definitely is an exotic and unique photo result.
