Description
Murphy and I created this piece for my husband Jason. He is a lifelong Seahawks fan, and I always loved watching the back of their helmet as they pushed the other team down the field. By layering, green, grey, metallic blue and navy blue we recreated the helmet with a hard playing look. There's even a scar across part of the painting where Murphy tore the canvas. Indicative of a hard day's work for a horse or a Seahawk. And yes, this painting was painted by a horse! Murphy, the painting horse does all the brush strokes and the imagery is collaboration with his human, Candace. Originally, Candace wanted to find a way to put a hidden picture in Murphy's paintings by masking a shape between layers of color. She soon realized she could use masking in ways that create graphical images. By using painter's tape cut to mask layers of color, Candace works with Murphy's brush strokes to create unique paintings. Their creations are collaboration between horse and human; something born of true partnership.
