An Excellent and Evocative photo. I wonder what happened to the people who once lived there, what dreams and hopes did they had... ?

Carla Parris replied:

Thank you, Hartmut.

Thanks, David.

Ah, nothing a broom and a coat of paint can't fix...

Time has continued to take its toll on this abandoned farmhouse which was completely collapsed when I returned in April, 2013.

Thanks, Cindy. I recently happened upon this great site not too far from where I live! The sweetest thing was that white spring bulbs (paperwhites) from some long-time-ago garden in front of the house were still blooming. Didn't get them in this photo, but they were so charming.

Wow! It's amazing that the chimney is still intact! Great capture! I love the character that old buildings portray... v/f

Thank you, Nyla!

Congratulations!!!

Thanks, Ms. Judi! And I appreciate the suggestion of trying this in B & W... I haven't done much with B & W, and just don't often think along those lines, so the input is helpful and appreciated! One of the things I love about FAA... encouragement and inspiration from a lovely community of artists!

Great capture Carla, love these type of shots, bet this would look good in B&W too, Love it!!! V/F/L

Thanks, Bob and Nancy!

Carla, Congratulations on your 2nd place win in the Rural Decay contest! Super image! v/f

This image just came in second in the Rural Decay contest. Thanks to all who voted!

Thank you, Vicki!

Well done, I love your framing here, very nicely captured!

Renovator's delight, or nightmare!!! But also rather charming as is, I thought. Thanks for the vote and comment, Therese!

Now, that truly is a renovator's delight, Carla - lol. I've voted.

Thank you, Jeff G., Jeff S., and Cindy! I was so pleased to come upon this abandoned farmhouse. I am hoping to get a shot of it which also captures the flowers blooming in the little abandoned garden in front of the building. I think its gonna require lying down in thick vegetation to get the shot... Must go prepared for that... Don't think about snakes, don't think about snakes, don't think about snakes... So if you ever see such a photo, you will know I really worked for it!!

I love this photo! It might be falling to pieces but it retains the charm of an earlier era.

Love these kinds of photos. Voted.

Voted. All the best, Jeff.

Thanks! I thought it was a little eye candy, notwithstanding its condition... and maybe because of it!!

It might have seen better days but it's great to look at.

Carol, :) ..... and Joan, thanks! My Aqua Porch Swing photo came from this building, and I have a window shot from another side of this building that I still need to post. The best part of this farmhouse was that its little front garden is still there, and had paper whites blooming. As dilapidated as the building is, with the little garden it was still charming.

What a great find, Carla! Great image!
