Description
In Hindu mythology, Shailputri is one of the nine forms of Goddess Durga. Shailputri is the name given to Durga in her form of "Parvathi". "Shaila" means mountain, "Putri" means "Daughter". Parvathi is the Daughter of Himalayan Mountain. She is worshipped on the first night of "Navaratri" (A Hindu festival of nine nights). I have depicted Shailputri according to the description given in following mantra.
Dhyan Mantra-
वन्दे वांच्छितलाभाय चन्द्रार्धकृतशेखराम् |
वृषारुढ़ां शूलधरां यशस्विनीम् ||
May the illustrious Shailaputri Durga whom I salute and whose head is adorned by a halfmoon, who rides nandi a bull and carries a spear fulfill the desires of my heart.
