Artist's Description

A little break from the bird series - I've a few more to post at a later date but thought it was time to shift gears for a bit. This image was taken in Bayou La Batre, not that far from where I used to live for about 20 years. Seeing it, I was reminded of a song I used to hear on the radio when I was very young "Shrimp Boats Is A-Comin' " sung by Jo Stafford - a big hit in 1951. [I think I was born in the wrong generation - I adore the music of the 40s and 50s and have all of Stafford's many hits]. Shrimp boats is a-comin' Their sails are in sight Shrimp boats is a-comin' There's dancin' tonight Why don't-cha hurry, hurry, hurry home Why don't-cha hurry, hurry, hurry home Look here! The shrimp boats is a-comin' There's dancin' tonight Repeat refrain: Shrimp boats is a-comin' (SLOWLY): They go to sea with the evenin' tide And their women folk wave their good-bye (Ill sant vas... There they go)...

Contemporary, yet timeless, my digital paintings are modern realism but with homage to the classic works. In addition to my current art work, I have two self-published volumes of poetry, "Songs of the Heart's Longing" from Blurb publishing and "Ecclesiastes for Sixty: Seasons in Solitude" from Xlibris. Both...
