As a kid, growing up in the 60's, I got caught up in this “surfing-craze." Some of the neighbor kids and I went to the lumber yard and bought some wood, we cut the wood, (not to shape you see here), actually our's was a more crude rectangle shape, nailed some metal skates on to the wood, and we had our sidewalk skateboard. I remember, holding a rope behind someone's bike, and trying to stay on the board, while they were pulling me. There were no helmets, knee pads, or elbow back then, so when you fell, it could be pretty dangerous. You couldn't turn very well, actually you couldn't turn at all. If you hit a small rock or twig, you'd really go flying! What great fun we had. Anyway, I photographed this vintage skateboard, and decided to put some of Jan & Dean's lyrics to the composition. It kind of reminds me of my old skateboard days in Burbank, California.
