I bought this as a gift for my daughter and she loved it. The tuxedo cat painting was beautifully done. The blue and purple background was perfect to showcase the artist rendering of the cat.

Artist's Description

We found this broken Rexall Drugs sign in a small town in East Texas. The store was long ago closed and the neon was shattered in places. Growing up in a small town in the 1950's we relied on the Rexall Drug Store for not only the cures for what ailed you but the soda fountain had the best selection of sweet treats (oh, those cherry phosphates) and sandwiches around.

In about 1902 Louis Liggett purchased 40 independent drug stores and formed the United Drug Stores cooperative, which sold products under the name Rexall. After World War II, he turned Rexall into a franchise arrangement, and by 1958 Rexall there were 11,158 stores in the US. That made it the nation's largest drug store franchise. In 1985, Rexall was the victim of a hostile takeover and the company slid into an immediate and severe decline.

About David and Carol Kelly

David and Carol Kelly

Thank you for visiting our site. We have been married 58 years and are long time partners in our art as well as life. Most of the beautiful floral and butterfly images are from Carol's camera while most of the rest are from David's. The making of a photographic image requires more than the click of a shutter. In the days of film photography we spent many hours in the chemical darkroom to make the negative more than just a "picture". The current digital darkroom allows far more control and artistic development for the original digital file to come to life as art.You will find in our galleries realistic presentations, simulated paintings and outright digital abstracts. We thank you very much for taking the time to look at our images.
