Description
This small section of my huge 3-storey stairwell mural in a daycare facility features a couple of silly snails on toadstools. The photos of the mural have been digitally enhanced to offer as art prints, canvas prints, etc. Art prints and canvas prints of these pictures for children would make great baby shower gifts for baby nursery.
Maple Preschool is a wonderful daycare facility in a church basement just north of Toronto with large windows to let in the daylight and bright cheerful surroundings to stimulate children's imaginations; however, the entrance from the rear parking lot where parents drop off their children had drab concrete and cinder block walls in the three-story stairwell that led to a dreary basement coat room. I was commissioned to paint a wall mural to make this stairwell more inviting and less daunting for young children.
This is the custom designed hand-painted wall mural that I painted. I decided on a woodland creatures theme and called it Furry Forest Friends. I designed a large Manitoba Maple tree to span the three stories with branches that circled the stairwell and were populated by many happy cuddly woodland creatures. I chose bright cheery stuffed animal colors for the happy fantasy caricature creatures with friendly faces. The characters on this page are the first ones to be seen when children walk from the parking lot into the third floor entrance door where I painted the undulating upper branches of the maple tree.
Flowers, grass, leafy plants and periwinkle ground cover on both sides of the steps make it feel as though you're walking down a hill in this fantasy scene. From this upper floor you can see the base of the huge maple tree down on the second floor landing with happy little waving furry friends that kids can't seem to wait to see up close.
