Description
I was done my chores by 2 pm so I decided to see if I could find a painting on the waterfront. The rain was on the way but I thought I could maybe have time to do something good. The rain started soon after I started to paint. I persevered hoping that the rain would prevent me from overworking the canvas and maybe add some interesting effects to the finished work.
There was still a small patch of ice in the sheltered bay across Jim Day Rapids. A pitch black mink scampered along the shore line. Ruffed grouse were drumming and the "who cooks fro you" barred owls were hooting their conversation. The crows and ravens protested my presence but they were even more agitated when the bald eagle flew by. The ducks and geese were everywhere. The painting was all about the sounds of spring and of course, the rain. More rain was on the way for later on Wednesday.
It is very important during the initial sketching process to adequatley identify the important puzzle pieces of the painting. This time is never wasted.
