Artist's Description
Sag Harbor was settled sometime between 1707 and 1730. Sag Harbor was author John Steinbeck's residence from 1955 until his death in 1968. Steinbeck did some of his writings in a little house on the edge of his property in Sag Harbor.
As a child I often went for rides in my father's old station wagon with my sister out to my Aunt's house. We often would pass through Sag Harbor and one of my favorite times was when the snow, all in blue shadows covered Main Street and its shops. I loved the many colors the snow cast nearly monochromatic shades of blue in the ruts on the street as we passed all the little stores on the way. It still looks very much the same as it did when I was a child and is a comfort to me to visit even in the present.
