Served aboard the Bibb as medical officer in early 1972. Was thrilled to find such a beautiful rendering of her, especially with the Newfoundland nautical chart background which reflects where she spent so much of her time in those days. Thank you Cathy.

The photo is lovely. However, the mat is not grey. It's periwinkle. After several attempts to contact customer service, they haven't responded with any solutions, only that they would look into it ASAP and get back to me. That was Nov 25. I've since disputed the charge on my credit card to get their attention. All I want is the grey mat I ordered.

Beautiful. Exactly as described. Attractive piece of art that displays well!

I thought the frame and matting was cheaply made. Will not be ordering again

Artist's Description

I've always been fascinated with owls in general and Snowies in particular. I've been fortunate to see a few Snowies in the wild in the last couple of years, although I have yet to see one close enough to get photos worth turning into paintings or drawings - even with my 600mm lens. I'll keep trying though. The subject of this drawing is a resident at the Vermont Institute of Natural Sciences (VINS) - a raptor rehab/educational facility in Quechee VT. Completed in November, 2013. The price listed for the original includes matting, glazing and framing. Please contact me to discuss delivery arrangements if you're interested in purchasing this drawing.

About Steve Hamlin

My subject matter reflects three life-long passions: nature, history, and architecture. I have lived most of my life in New England. I love painting subjects from my home region, as well as from the travel that my wife, Linda and I enjoy doing together. I paint only in watercolor, in a style that lies somewhere between impressionistic and photo-realistic. I love the transparency and immediacy of watercolors and celebrate the happy accidents of the medium, as well as its challenges. After many years of drawing only as a preliminary step to the main event - a painting - I've recently begun drawing as an end in itself again. Please browse my catalog of drawings and paintings. If you have a comment or question, please contact me. I...
