The beach towel is really just for laying on inasmuch as it is too big and heavy to put around your body, which is just fine. The artwork in it is beautiful. I can't wait to use it.

Wow - I didn't realise it was going to be that big! It's a gift for a young member of the family - I think he'll be thrilled as he's a tractor fanatic at 6 years old. A practical gift too. The towel has a smoother upper side so it'll be more comfortable to sit on at the beach. It seems to have a thick absorbent power so no usual skinny beach towel.

Dreux airdrome, France, June 1944. Fw 190 A-8/R2 "Black 8,” W.Nr. 680756, taxis in from a close air support mission near Normandy. It’s NCO pilot, 24-year-old Unteroffizier Willi Maximowitz, was an experienced JG 1 and Sturmstaffel 1 veteran, and had transferred with the latter unit when it was folded into IV./JG 3 “Udet” as 11. Staffel (Sturm). Maximowitz flew combat almost without break from the late autumn of 1943 until his death in April 1945 on the Russian front. During his year and a half career as a fighter pilot he was badly wounded several times, resulting in a few unscheduled parachute jumps, forced landings, and at least one major crash which required hospitalization. Maximowitz’s final tally was 27 aerial victories, including 15 4-engine bombers on the western front. One of those, a B-17, he downed by ramming! Scholars believe that he had rammed and destroyed a second bomber, but the date is unknown. Before his death he was promoted to Oberfeldwebel (Technical S...

After high school, he earned a B.A. in History from Louisiana State University in Shreveport while serving in the US Air Force Reserve at Barksdale Air Force Base. With marriage came a move to the beautiful Birmingham, Alabama area. Diving in head first, Wade quit his job at an aviation museum in 2003 and began to work full-time as an aviation artist. He started accepting commissions immediately, and to this day his work is primarily commission-driven. Along with his...
