About Cathy MONNIER
Cathy is a french professional painter, living now in Poitou- Charentes (Central West of France), after residing many years in the moutains of the South Alpes. Born in Antibes (on the Riviera), she studied four years at the National School of Art, in Nice. She regularly takes part in various regional exhibitions and outdoor painting competitions. She loves her beautiful and calm countryside, with large meadows, forests, some great rivers and the ocean close by. She has a real passion for painting which she practises assidiously. Acrylic on canvas is her favorite technic. Hoping her feelings will show in her artwork, throughout these differents galleries. There is now a new gallery of photographies. Cathy, I loved this work because it does follow the trail of two great artists Cezanne and Matisse, You have a great skill to create such beauty. (You live in a country that I spent time in in 1969 and loved every moment there. The art, museums and parks, but also the food and wine and the architecture, especially in the old villages. Great painting Cathy, very Cezanne-ish. Excellent brush work and great complimentary colors blue and orange. Wonderful dabs of greens, blues, reds, golds in the ground and beautifully colored treatment of white bag. The upper right corner done in intensely dark blue was a nice touch. cheers, georgia
