It was a gift for a friend who has worked on these rigs. It’s now in his own company facility. He loves it.

Many people do not realize that besides photography, I enjoy doing illustrations and painting. It seems that since about 10 years, I draw less often, but enjoy drawing fantastical creatures such as fairies or mermaids. I don't know why, I guess as a child I was always mesmerized by the thought they could exist and hold a tiny bit of a wish that one day, I could see one.
Since several years now, my paintings are no longer on canvas but done digitally with a Wacom pen and tablet.
Many people have the false understanding that all digital art is a bunch of buttons that you press and subito-presto - you have art.. but that is far from the truth in most cases. Here, as much effort goes into doing the work as when I worked traditionally.

I'm a photographer from a small town in Quebec, Canada and I do mostly Still Life compositions and Urban Vignettes. I take pictures of things I feel a connection to, a way of sharing my feelings, my world, and my place in it. My approach to photography is essentially the same as how an author uses words to write a story. Hopefully, youll find my voice and vision within my work. I also do digital painting - mostly fantastical creatures like fairies.

This is very cool, and enlightening Maggie! If U don't mind me asking, does the Wacom tablet come with software or do you have a preference of another? I am very interested in this , having seen many artists on FAA describing their work as digital art, it really intrigues me. As soon as I have time I think I would like to experiment and take the plunge, Hell, Why not? I am guessing Mac's would be the way to go or perhaps PC's? Excuse me for the multitude of questions. :) Brian
Maggie Terlecki replied:
Hi Brian. Nice of you to visit. I'm glad you like this. As for painting digitally, depending on your eye/hand coordination, it can take between a few hours and a few days to get used to drawing by looking at your monitor only. If you find it a bit hard, do not give up.. as you will never regret it. There are many versions, some are quite small and others are larger but have options like buttons that you can select what you want to use them for. You can use the Wacom tablet on either a pc or a Mac. My tablet is about 5 years old, I guess or maybe even a little more but it has never had a problem and the digital pen, has no batteries nor cable.. I must have dropped it 50 times at least and it is still just like new. I used to have a very small tablet and only changed it because it wasn't usb... but it still worked perfectly. Sometimes it can come bundled with software, but I'm not sure right now. I paint mostly in Corel Painter (old version Corel Painter 11) and then do certain things in Photoshop as selecting there is much easier for cleanup. Also, Corel lets you save .psd files so you can bring them into Photoshop easily. If you have any other questions, as this is getting to be a long comment and we cannot create separate lines, just message me here and I'd be happy to answer any questions you have. All the best, :-) Maggie

If I would draw (I could draw if I wanted) or chose to play an instrument I would have to give up photography, thats what I meant :)) I can focus only on one thing at a time....lol..typical male....have a nice weekend !
Maggie Terlecki replied:
I am sure you are multi-talented; and if doing something else, means no more photography, well.. you must continue with the photography because you are extremely good! Hope you have a warmer weekend than I am. Crazy here ... -38C :sigh:

Great work from the valley of Gold !! Yes..I realize you being a painter too, but it was way back in my mind...you did a great job and surely the iPad, waycom pen, etc...is just the medium one uses...like the pencil and paper. Very good ! I wish I would be brave to do that too, but I know myself...than being so fanatic that I would loose photography...since I only can do 1 thing well at a time...lol...but...you are sooooo much more versatile....again I take my hat off and make a deep bow !!
Maggie Terlecki replied:
Thank you, Michel. I don't use the ipad, I use a Wacom tablet that has thousands of levels of pressure sensitivity and has buttons on it to access for quick changes such as brush size.. I can scroll up to make them bigger, scroll down to make smaller etc., I also use a keyboard in front of the tablet to access short-cuts such as color picker, layers, masks, etc., etc., When you say, that you wouldn't do it too because you would probably not be doing photography, does that mean you actually draw too? Sounds like it; I would love to see your work. Glad you like it and happy to see you visit. Have a great weekend :-) Maggie
