đź’• đź’•Congrats on FIRST PLACE in the ARIZONA SNOW CONTEST! "This excellent image of rare, lovely snow definitely captures the spirit of the contest and will be permanently featured on the Southern Arizona homepage"đź’• đź’•~Thanks, Chance!
Southern Arizona once again gets snow. The "La Fiesta de los Vaqueros® - Tucson Rodeo" is happening today through Sunday. I have never known it to deal with snow. Rain yes, but not snow. So all the rodeo acts, may be performing with a bit of a disadvantage.
Just on the outskirts of Tucson, Arizona, at 3500 ft. elevation, we may be getting more than in town. I was just thinking about looking forward to Spring and all the wildflowers (those beginning in late February). But the last week in February, temperatures are expected to be in the middle 70's F or middle 20's C.
I woke up to my desert garden of joy snowed in, and has been snowing for the last 5 hours, and more is expected. So amidst all the white "Sonoran Snow Splendor," is a bit of color with my Santa Rita Prickly Pear Cactus or Purple Prickly Pear. My favorite cactus, as purple is my passion color.
💕It’s with heARTfelt Appreciation and Thanks to the Administrators for these HOMEPAGE FEATURES in their Art Group💕

Gorgeous color and capture. The purple tones look beautiful against the white snow. (Crazy weather, however.) Featured in American Desert Southwest.
Janet Marie replied:
Thank you dear Jane for the HOMEPAGE FEATURE in your lovely Art Group m “AMERICAN DESERT SOUTHWEST!” I am always honored to have my artwork recognized in this special way. I really appreciate it. In my neck of the woods the elevation is 3500 ft. Tucson is 2500 ft. When I moved to Tucson in 1971, December 8th had 6.8” of snow. Which was shocking to me having moved from Las Vegas, Nevada (which I don’t remember it raining the 5 years I lived there). It has snowed 20 times since then, in certain parts. Living in the outskirts of Tucson at a higher altitude, we do have that chance if a winter storm comes through. The last snow here, before 2019, was January 1st 2015. This snow came and then a hard freeze keeping the 6” snow the next day. But now it’s warming up, and melting. What surprised us today, was our visit to nearby Sonoita, Arizona (elevation 4,885 ft.). It had 12” of snow and was a winter wonderland everywhere. All the surrounding mountains were snow covered. Now that, I have never seen before. I thought I was driving through Colorado. So now Tucson will have normal temperatures this last week of February, in the 70’s. I appreciate your lovely thoughts about this, feeling it’s gorgeous. Janet p💕

This is a beautiful shot! It snowed heavily in the heart of the city this morning, but it is fast melting now. I bet the views in Vail were incredible. Featured in Tucson and Southern Arizona.
Janet Marie replied:
Chance! How wonderful of you to visit and leave such a great comment about my artwork. The views were mostly what is on the ground, as there are a lot of low clouds. Can't see the Rincon Mountains yet. The snow is melting on all the vegetation, but still snow on the ground. The temps have stayed in the thirties. Thank you for the HOMEPAGE FEATURE in your Art Group, "TUCSON AND SOUTHERN ARIZONA!" I am happy to have my photography recognized in this special way. I truly appreciate it.
