Artist's Description
A big, powerful draft horse galloping away to freedom. This piece was drawn in pastel pencils and black Prismacolor on a basswood panel, then painted in oil paint with translucent wax medium, for an unusual combination of boldness and delicate lines. The wood grain is visible in many areas, simply coated with satiny wax and allowed to contribute its own fine, subtle texture to the work. This is one of two works designed as a pair; it is the right-hand panel while its companion, Northbound, goes on the left.
