Received an e-mail from the daughter of the man who built this boat! Have to share it! Original Artwork - Southern Heritage Message: This boat was built by my father, Royce LaForce. ( His brother, Buddy LaForce was the founder of LaForce Boatyard in Bayou La Batre.) I remember watching my dad when I was a young girl as he single-handedly carried huge sheets of steel up a thin runged ladder when he was building her at my uncle Jim's place. This boat was white with royal blue striping when it was first painted. I remember my father's eyes when it was launched. It was his dream come true. It was never more beautiful than when after a few years it was repainted. The body was a royal blue, and the trim was painted white this time. The letters of her name were straight and bold. Pictures were taken for a magazine when she was in drydock. After several years, my dad gave the Southern Heritage to his brother, Alvin LaForce, of Bayou La Batre, AL. Alvin died not too long after he gained possession of the boat, and Alvin's son took hold of it. This is the first I've seen it in about 30 years. I saw a ! picture of her on the internet along with another boat being towed in. Although her appearance is rusted and battered, I recognized her immediately and remembered sliding down the side of this boat on a lifejacket with the pump hose gushing water. It was so much fun! I also remember once being tied in the bunkbeds with my sister during a terrible storm.Oh, and the name came from my father's mother. Her maiden name was Southern, and her great grandparents owned the Bebee Boatyard in the 1800's near where Chevron Refinery is now.

About Acrylic Prints

Mounting Option #1

Mounting Option #2

Bring your artwork to life with the stylish lines and added depth of an acrylic print.   Your image gets printed directly onto the back of a 1/4" thick sheet of clear acrylic.

The image is the art - it doesn't get any cleaner than that!

All acrylic prints ship within 3 - 4 business days and arrive "ready to hang" with four aluminum mounting posts (Option #1) or hanging wire (Option #2).

The high gloss of the acrylic sheet complements the rich colors of any image to produce stunning results.

There are two different ways to mount your acrylic print.

Option #1 (Mounting Posts) - Attach your print to your wall with four aluminum mounting posts.   The cylindrical cap of each mounting post can be removed, allowing you to thread a small screw along the center axis of the of post and into the wall.   When you're finished, simply reattached each cap, and you're done.   The mounting posts act as stand-offs and keep your print separated from the wall by 1".   All of the required mounting hardware (i.e. posts, screws, and wall anchors) is included with your print.   Click here for mounting details.

Option #2 (Hanging Wire) - With this option, your acrylic print is attached to a 1/4" thick black board which has a wooden frame and hanging wire attached to the back.   There are no metal mounting posts at the corners.   Simply put a nail in your wall, hang your print from the hanging wire, and you're done.   Due to the thickness of the black board and mounting frame, your print is separated from the wall by 1.50"   Click here for mounting details.

The art of Lucie Bildeau is absolutely awe-inspiring. Her amazing eye for the nature as well as visible love for the cats make me keep this gorgeous work of art. However, the craftsmanship of the mounting is something that my daughter that is in 4-th grade would do better. The mounting frame is uneven- it looks as though somebody kicked it from the side. One of the vertical boards in the frame is shorter than the parallel one resulting in some quadrilateral, but definitely not rectangle. Therefore, it hangs uneven on the wall. My husband will try to fix it. Yet, I don't think that for the price I paid already he should be involved at all. Artist's work is spotless and heartwarming- max rating. Mounting frame- horrible job; whoever did it should be ashamed of themselves for producing something like that and charging that money for such botched job. I took some pictures and can attach them to the review if needed. Buyers beware of this.

About Gisele Long

From my very first crayon “work of art” on my parents walls I have always had a strong need for creative expression. There have been times when I felt I would explode if unable to give birth to what stirred within my heart. Thankfully, during my career as a nurse and as a “stay at home Mom”, I have found many, many opportunities to explore and develop what seems to come naturally. I have enjoyed leather and copper tooling, acrylic and watercolor painting, drawing, sewing, costuming design and construction, murals, set design, and any other commission/adventure that comes, my way. After raising our two children, my husband and I moved to Flagler Beach where I have had the privilege of attending classes by some fine local artists. I...
