Description
You know how when you're really sick, you don't want to go anywhere? You don't even want to leave your bed, let alone your house?
Well, one January day in Las Vegas I was in bed, sick as a dog. My husband looked outside and said "Renee! There's tons of snow!" What??? There's snow? In Vegas? And sure enough, there was. So we spent about 2 minutes grabbing my camera and gear and heading out, even though 3 minutes before I thought I couldn't move. We left so quickly that my husband forgot to grab his coat.
For the next few hours I had a blast capturing some amazing and unusual images. This is one of them. Maybe they're not so amazing to someone who is used to snowy landscapes. But when snow comes to southern Nevada, we take notice. How often do you get to see Joshua trees in a snow scene? For me, it was pure magic.
The dramatic low-hanging clouds also cooperated fully, making the mountains look even larger and more majestic than usual.
