Love the painting and the rich colorful blues, reds, greens, & yellows! A nice addition to our cowboy/southwest decor vibe.

Beautifully expressed rendition of the Shrine of the Bab. The frame and matting showcase the print. We have it prominently on our living room wall with other sacred pictures.

I think the frame and mat work very well with this, it is really impressive in person. Grouped with a small Grant Wood with high quality lighting it sets the mood for a Georgia farmhouse.

Artist's Description

At first glance, the Mexican custom of the Día de Muertos — the Day of the Dead — may sound much like the U.S. custom of Halloween. After all, the celebration traditionally starts at midnight the night of Oct. 31, and the festivities are abundant in images related to death.

But the customs have different origins, and their attitudes toward death are different: In the typical Halloween festivities, which are of Celtic origin, death is something to be feared. But in the Día de Muertos, death — or at least the memories of those who have died — is something to be celebrated. The Día de Muertos, which continues until Nov. 2, has become one of the biggest holidays in Mexico, and celebrations are becoming more common in areas of the United States with a large Hispanic population.

Its origins are distinctly Mexican: During the time of the Aztecs, a monthlong summer celebration was overseen by the goddess Mictecacihuatl, the Lady of the Dead. After the Aztecs were conquered by...

About Pristine Cartera Turkus

Pristine Cartera Turkus

I am a self-taught artist living in Southern California. I was born in Manila, Philippines. I graduated with Degree in Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in Interior Design at University of Santo Tomas. As a Designer, some of my artwork has been used as accessories for my client's houses, stores and offices. I like using joyful, whimsical colors. It adds fun and pleasure in my paintings. In fact, the most common comment I hear regarding my work is that my artwork just makes people smile. I have also been commissioned to do various paintings as gifts and to add to one's personal collections. I am a...
