This is an original piece of work, inspired by a black and white photograph. It depicts a real person, the artist's aunt, who lived in Crete, Greece, and used to sit and spin wool by the front door. Her photograph was taken by German filmmakers, who filmed rural Crete and used her portrait at the very opening scene of the film (unfortunately the painter does not remember their names, nor the name of the film).
