This is a close-up detail, photographed in bright sunlight, of a tall outdoor decorative structure of metal spirals and its shadow at La Encantada Mall in Tucson, Arizona. A striking abstract in sand-pink and black.

Bonnie This pix has my vote for the Avatar for August of the Best of Minimalism Group. It's an incredible picture,and your choice of the nearly totally vertical angle to abstract the curves of the fence itself is remarkable, unusual, and very enticing -- and makes the best possible contrast with the curlicues of the shadow itself. Absolutely Brilliant!

The perspective results in a composition with amazing balance, Bonnie - not quite thirds as the black on the left is narrower but that's just right because it's so much heavier. I love being able to see this metal scroll work from two sides, so to speak. This is one of my two picks of the day in the Best of Minimalism group for July 8.
