Description
Salzburg is very much a city of spires. From any one of the fantastic vantage points bordering the old town, your view will always include a selection of domes and pointed spires. In this photograph, taken from Monchsberg, the monumental cupola of the baroque Collegiate Church can be seen in the foreground. Behind, another three green domes mark Salzburg's 17th Century Cathedra. In between, the striking 'red onion' roof of Nonnberg Abbey, a Benedictine Monastery founded in the year 714 and made famous by the movie 'The Sound of Music' telling the story of Maria Von Trapp. I hand blended a selection of textures with my original photograph, to achieve a more painterly style which I felt complimented the magic of this beautiful Austrian city.
