Artist's Description
This is one of a set of light oil sketches that I did to represent Springtime here in Georgia. It is a way to loosen up after the tight egg tempera paintings that I usually do. I plan to do more plein air paintings of the area on a regular basis. This is a old farmhouse with tall hay that has been sitting, undisturbed all Winter.
About Peter Muzyka
I was raised on a farm in rural Pennsylvania and whenever I got the chance, I drew and eventually painted. I started learning advanced art techniques in the mid 1960's under Pennsylvania artist Andrew Palencar. He had a mastery of old masters' styles and took the time with a few of his serious art students to help us develop our skill levels. In the 70's I studied painting and illustration techniques under popular animal artists Robert C. Kray and George Luther Schelling. I won 1st place in oils and acrylics for a train painting in the US Navy-wide Juried Art Show in Norfolk VA in 1974 and later was selected to develop murals related to the National Bicentennial in Luzerne County, PA. In the 70's, I received many commissions for portraits...

Hey Pete, congratulations on your sale! This is a great piece; I love your loose works.
Bruce Combs - REACH BEYOND
Beautiful realistic painting, Peter, and great choice and view of subject. I really like your many paintings of old building, and especially the pen and ink drawings. But my favorites, at the moment (always subject to change!) are GRAY FARM BUILDING and RURAL DELIVERY. I guess the more decrepit the more I like it! Something about the feeling that they are older, have been around longer to serve and share with people and their lives. (I know that is not necesarily true). I like your story about your wife's request and how you found such a productive -- better than usual compromise, I think -- solution! You should be Secretary of State! Congratulations on the print sale, and may you have many more. Keep drawing and painting.

Hi Pete, This and your other one, Spring Explosion are lovely and a looser style than is typical for you. We enjoy carrying your art! You have lots of admirers of your work.
