The beach towel is really just for laying on inasmuch as it is too big and heavy to put around your body, which is just fine. The artwork in it is beautiful. I can't wait to use it.

Wow - I didn't realise it was going to be that big! It's a gift for a young member of the family - I think he'll be thrilled as he's a tractor fanatic at 6 years old. A practical gift too. The towel has a smoother upper side so it'll be more comfortable to sit on at the beach. It seems to have a thick absorbent power so no usual skinny beach towel.

Artist's Description

Tulips were originally a wild flower growing in Central Asia and were first cultivated by the Turks as early as 1,000 AD. In the 1590's he became the director of the Hortus Botanicus in Leiden, the oldest botanical garden of Europe, founded in 1587. Clusius was hired by the University of Leiden to research medicinal plants and while doing so he obtained bulbs from Turkey from Ogier Ghiselain de Busbecq, the ambassador of Constantinople - present-day Istanbul. de Busbecq named the tulip after the Turkish word for turban, grown in the palace gardens and sent a few of the brightly colored flowers to Clusius for his lovely garden in Leiden where they were quickly planted. This was the start of the amazing bulb fields we find today. In the beginning of the 17th century, the tulip began as a garden decoration but soon gained major popularity as a trading pr...

For me, this adventure began with a single spring image using a small Kodak film camera of a freshly watered central Kansas ditch and has come full circle using modern digital techniques. My first camera was an old 35mm Yashica, acquired by trading an ancient Royal typewriter to a fellow college student who was desperate to finish a term paper. It was a long time ago and that camera was my passport to an art that has fascinated me ever since. I owned a professional studio in central Kansas for 20 years until I sold the business and moved to Colorado. Part of the studio's early success came from creating outdoor...
