"Stanzie Cat" was my Great Aunt's cat. I drew her portrait as a gift when Stanzie passed away. Stanzie was named for Konstanze Mozart, the wife of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Stanzie Cat had a brother, Wolfie, after his namesake. Their previous owner, from whom my Aunt Dolores got Stanzie and Wolfie, was a music teacher and named them when she got them as kittens.
Stanzie was a very small cat. She was a shy girl and, in her earlier years, one might even say a scaredy cat. However, she came to love my Aunt and always knew where in the house her mom was at all times. Aunt Dolores says she never thought of herself as a cat person. It strikes me that Stanzie may not have been a people cat but, perhaps they changed that about each other.
When she was younger, Stanzie would play "stairs hockey." She'd be upstairs batting around her toys and usually one would take off and fly out over the steps and land 2-3 steps down. She'd fly down, and bat at it once more. Occasionally, Stanzie would even wake her parents with these antics at night. And she loved to sit on the stairs and watch her parents. So, here she sits on her stairs again, where she'll always be to watch Aunt Dolores prepare dinner and to remind her that she had a good life with and because of her.
