Description
I was unprepared for the beauty of the beautiful Parisian cathedral, Notre Dame de Paris. I believe seeing it at night for the first time was incredibly special. In the midst of winter on a dark night filled with warm street lamps glowing, I mean, it's straight out of a story book isn't it?
Maybe that fantasy quality was what led me down this road when editing this photo? I'm not sure honestly, but I looked at it and I knew that I wanted to add some texture to this image and stars, there had to be stars!
There's a great tension in the image for me, from the great French Gothic cathedral dominating the scene, to the row of street lamps coming towards the viewer, and the couple who've paused to view the old church. Were they heading home from shopping? Are they tourists like myself with a bag full of souvenirs? It's hard to know, but I like to envision them as Parisians pausing to enjoy their own environment before going home for a warm meal.
What's your preferred story to go with this picture?

Beautiful Christmas image, well done!
Mark Tisdale replied:
Thanks Christina! With some irony, this was taken a month after Christmas. It's simply a winter scene in Europe. ;-)
