Who doesn't like clockwork? Gears meshing, each one a different size, yet they all work together in a team. Each does something, changes the speed of something, drives something. Does it tell the time? Is it an automaton? What does it do? Don't stick your fingers in there while it's in motion, you could mess up the machine by getting blood all over it, and you don't want that. Blood is not a good lubricant.
