Description
Stone Steps of Kapuzinerberg Salzburg in Winter. Salzburg is truly a city of hills, each one affording a different spectacular view over this enchanting Austrian destination. The steep climb up the footpath of Kapuzinerberg on the East bank of the Salzach River, is well worth the effort. Once you reach the top you can see all the way across the rooftops to the snow capped peaks of The Alps beyond. A light dusting of snow on this winter's morning gave the vista an even more fairy tale appearance. Pictured here are the Imberstiege stone steps leading down from the hill to the old town and the green spire of St.Johannes am Imberg (St.John on The Mountain), a lovely little romanesque church with a history dating back to 1319. Legend has it that this church was a favourite of the young Mozart and his sister Nannerl.
