Description
Genetic research. Stoppered sample tubes (coloured) holding chemicals that form deoxyribo- nucleic acid (DNA) and others (clear) which contain reaction mixtures of these bases. The sample tubes have been placed in ice to control their temperature. The four DNA chemicals or bases are adenine (A), thymine (T), guanine (G) and cytosine (C). In DNA molecules these link to form a long chain of two intertwined strands. DNA contains a creature's genetic informtion. The exact properties of the DNA molecule depends upon the sequence of bases within it. New DNA chains with potential medical uses can be constructed by combining the bases together.
