Norman Smith you are right. I know the area well, especially considering my ancestry was here. :) However I seen this listed at a number of places as Fort Neoheroka. I'm thinking the mountains are just artistic addition to set off the painting.... I don't know why in any of the tags Tuscarora isn't mentioned when this was a Tuscarora fort... not Cherokee... the Cherokee were small in numbers apart of some of the native bands attacking the Tuscarora fort here.

This battle was in Greene County North Carolina. Mountains like the ones in the background, were over 200 miles away. Not visible to say the least.
