This is Averi's favorite to date. Inspired by her desire to get into a show at The Silos at Magnolia, she started looking into animals that represent Texas. Of course, the long horn topped the list. Her love of cows + color, combined with some time between basketball practices over the Holiday, Stormy was born. It's stunning! The Texas Longhorn is a breed of cattle known for its characteristic horns. Did you know, both male Longhorn bulls and female cows have horns.The cattle traveled from Spain to the West Indies and then Mexico before arriving in Texas and the rest of the USA. Their population plummeted to near extinction in the 1920s. The Longhorn became the Texas state large mammal in 1995! 40" x 16 " acrylic on canvas. Original Available. Limited prints available. Averi Iris Smith is a Montana native, a self taught teen artist, and athlete living in Bozeman Montana, attending her senior year of high school. As many kids do, Averi loved to paint as a young child, the only difference is she never stopped loving it.
