Description
Morning awakens as I go for a walk along the shore of Lake Shelby at Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores, AL. USA. The main subject in the foreground is an old tree stump, surrounded by green and golden grasses. Across the lake you can see high rise condos on the beach by the Gulf of Mexico. Lake Shelby is one of the few lakes that are so close to salt water in the USA. I love this place. Peaceful. The stump says it all to me... A quiet sentry of my favorite park.

A fine image, kk! I like the composition a lot. :)

Thanks, Steve. It is amazing the difference in environment. The lake cottages are in the grasses and trees. On just the other side are the beach road, lots of land that is NOT built on, owned by the state park, and the prettiest white sand and clean clear glistening salt water of Gulf of Mexico. I love staying in the cottages. They are gorgeous inside, too. And airy. I also love the piers and gazebos. Typically, we hit the beach in morning and stay four hours. Then back to this. I love this. In the evening people walk over to the piers with gazebos and meet each other and see old friends sometimes like we did. It is a wonderful place for a family. Nearby on the campgrounds they have a big pool and splash pad for people staying in Gulf State Park. I never made it there. Also, there are a lot of trails that walkers and handicapped alike can take... people of all ages and health conditions. But it is pretty hot this time of year. I would like go go back in Fall or Spring for that. One of my fav places ever. I bet I have been there 20+ times, but this was my first cottage stay. BIG! But a lot of us went. 3 groups and it was great. :) kk
