Description
A panoramic view of the church towers in downtown Sibiu, Transylvania. Vlad the Impaler, the model for Dracula (he signed his documents Draculya!) lived here for about 2 years at the end of his life, with his second wife, Ilona, the sister of Mathias Corvin, the King of Hungary (himself of Romanian descent) before being assassinated by some rival Boyards (nobility).

Fantastic, Ion! Dracula must have been very stupid to sit in his dark castle instead of living in this bright, colorful town :-) ... F/V ... Heiko and Helga
ITI Ion Vincent Danu replied:
Heiko and Helga, thanks! I am too prudent to speak ill of the Dark Prince...
Dorothy Maier
Nice painting... Is Sighisoara the town from your painting? Dorothy
ITI Ion Vincent Danu replied:
Thanks, Dorothy! No, the city in the watercolor is my native city of Sibiu (kind of similar to sighisoara and Brasov, since built - at least the interior old city - by German Immigrants, about 1200-1300...)
Cori Caputo
Charming ! who is the little creature down in front in the trees? f/v
ITI Ion Vincent Danu replied:
Thanks, Cori! That would be me, my signature as a Scarecrow! Since the 80ties when I saw Jerry Schatzberg's movie (with Al Pacino and Gene Hackman) I slide into the belief that if you mock yourself (and, gently, others) it is a better attitude than confrontation and violence... so I start to sign as the Scarecrow...

Dracula, transylvania, some of my favorite legends, you did a beautiful job here Ion, so much detail.v
ITI Ion Vincent Danu replied:
Thank you, Sharon! You know, Irish, Hollywood and plenty of others took advantage of Dracula and Transylvania (no hard feelings!) But why not a native? and a History teacher transformed in a visual artist, like myself? By the why, Vlad the Impaler, the raw model for dracula, signed his documents "Draculya"...
