Great silhouette shot, Laura! The pine trees have nice form and I like the wispy look of the clumps of pine needles in silhouette too. Love the touch of the eagle silhouette you captured. Icing on the cake for an already great shot. :)

Eagles were common on the Georgia coast then they disappeared and had to be reintroduced. Now it is always special to see one.Thanks Carolyn.

Artist's Description

A Bald Eagle's habitat is anywhere there are fish -rivers,creeks,lakes and coastal waters. Georgia's coast had it's share of nesting and migratory eagles up until DDT pesticide made theirs egg shells too thin to incubate, then they disappeared.Beginning in the late 80s eagle pairs were reintroduced on Georgia's remote barrier islands and there were just a few for many years. It is only recently that our eagle population has grown so that we can see them again on a regular basis and it is indeed a glorious sight to behold.

About Laura Ragland

I majored in art at the University of Georgia then LIFE, as it so often does, happened. 30 years later, retired from teaching drafting, art, residential design, photography, digital multi-media production and technology education, I picked up a good point and shoot digital camera and reclaimed my artist status. I'm an opportunistic photographer, always looking for my next favorite image to come out of the camera. I'm inspired by just being outdoors and near nature.The essence of art, to me, isn't just the mastery of its form but the internal visions of the artist coming out so others can see them.
