This immature black crowned night heron heron was slowly hunting amid the rocks. The sunset illuminated him but did not reach the background, making this bird stand out. Despite being in the spotlight, he had a few successful catches during the hunt. This photo was taken at sunset point on the Fort Morgan highway, overlooking Bon Secour Bay in Gulf Shores Alabama.

Its an immature black crowned night heron. It took three people, a pamphlet and a book to figure this one out., culminated by referring to the staff expert.
