I paint the sunset whether it's filled with spectacular color, completely overcast, raining, or, as in this case, snowing like crazy. This was a beautiful evening and something that was both very challenging and fun to paint.
About William Van Doren
William Van Doren, a native of Virginia, began painting, self-taught, while still a student at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. Soon he was selling his work to individuals in Baltimore and New York. Later, while working as an editor, ghostwriter, and designer in New York and Los Angeles, he continued developing his art. In 1995, in Virginia, he began painting the sunset, and on January 1, 2006, began a series of paintings responding to the sunset from each day -- eleven years of consecutive sunset paintings. In 2011 he displayed all 365 sunsets of 2010 consecutively edge to edge in one exhibition at the Baker Gallery at Woodberry Forest.
