Artist's Description
We vacation regularly in Emerald Isle on Bogue Banks NC and the area is wonderful and the weather is great. One year we had two days of thunderstorms which created much larger surf than typical for the area and surfers were having a good time. With an excellent vantage point from the Bogue Inlet Pier I was able to photograph surfing in a way I had never expected.
About John Wijsman
I’ve been a photographer since I used a Brownie Hawkeye camera sometime before I was 8 years old and I’ve been photographing people, sports, nature and many things for decades since. Along the way I’ve worked for newspapers, professional sports organizations, shot weddings, concerts, nature and wildlife. My photos have won awards, been published internationally, been used for advertisements and education. I have degrees in Biology and Zoology and have supported my photography with a long career as a scientist. Currently I live and work in Indiana.
